I’ve had a busy few days at the station and as part of the local music scene this weekend. From the School Aid fundraiser day to the Sunday afternoon interview session, I think Beyond Radio business has kept me occupied in all of my favourite ways.

I hope some of our readers and listeners made it to The Bobbin in Lancaster and/or to The Exchange in Morecambe. The weekend was a great show of local generosity and musical talent. I was there briefly on the Saturday, but hope to be included as part of the team and take on a larger role next year.

I know that’s something that my friend and co-volunteer Gibson Freedman is keen for me to do ...

  • Happy New Year (again)

As a weekend long Chinese New Year Festival gets underway in our favourite city, we can wave goodbye to what I always think of as the longest month of our calendar year: January. With it's long nights and cold days, it's easy to feel a weariness in winter that can only be shifted by the promise of new beginnings and the approach of spring. One way that I combat winter blues is by filling my days with good music and good people - and I'm in an ideal position to do those things when I'm involved with Beyond Radio.

  • Happy New Year 2022

It's a new dawn, it's a new day, it's a new life for me, ohh. And I'm feeling good! Hands up if you sang along as you read those famous lyrics (I actually sang them in my head as I typed them). There's something about the change of date on New Year's Eve that fills many with song, or a sense of hope and freshly renewed faith in possibilities. We make ready to rush headlong into a new year with all the excitement of our inner child ready to search for presents on Christmas morning, or a New Year's Day Morecambe Bay Dipper sporting flippers and a cap, hurtling ourselves into the sea at dawn (more on that news item later) ...

Happy New Year from The Beyond Radio Family

What an exciting time it is at Beyond Radio. Our staff and volunteer areas, online and in real life, have been alive with activity and chatter relating to local events. We have an ongoing relationship with a number of established festivals and events, Highest Point Festival and Carnforth Carnival to name but two, and we are also expanding. Going digital is a huge step forward for Beyond Radio. I heard about some exciting plans for 2022 and beyond, when I recently visited the station.
