"We're not going to stop searching" says brother of man who went missing from Lancaster

The brother of a man who went missing from Lancaster almost five months ago has vowed "we're not going to stop searching" for him.

Robbie Hives was speaking after a volunteer search team again found no trace of missing Daniel Hives when out on the River Lune at the weekend.

Mr Hives was last seen in Lancaster close to the river on December 10 2022.

The Beneath the Surface underwater diving team, who help families search for missing loved ones using sonar technology and scuba diving skills also searched the Lune earlier this month.

A spokesperson for the Chorley-based team said: "This weekend we have been back out in Lancaster searching sections of the River Lune for any signs of Daniel Hives.

"The tide was out and river levels were extremely low which helped us to check the river bed in most likely areas quickly.

"We didn't locate any sign of Daniel.

"We'd like to ask everyone to continue to be aware and to keep an eye out for any possible sign of what may have happened to Daniel.

"We urge anyone with information about what happened to Daniel to contact Lancashire Police. If you was in the area of the Millennium Bridge, Lancaster on 10th December please check any possible CCTV, dashcam and doorbell footage. If you saw anything no matter how insignificant it may seem please come forward."

Robbie (pictured on the right, with friends and supporters of Daniel) then posted to the 'Join the Search to Find Daniel Hives' Facebook group, saying: "A big thanks to Beneath the Surface for for going back out and checking a few more points of interest near the area Daniel went missing in early December.

"We’re not going to stop searching no matter how hard or how many dead ends we hit, let’s keep giving Daniel the awareness he needs."

Extensive searches have taken place since Daniel’s disappearance and these are continuing.

They include searches organised by friends and family, who most recently gathered at the Millennium Bridge on March 29 to mark his 29th birthday.

Daniel also recently featured on the Channel 5 TV show 'Vanished'.

He was last seen on the night of December 10 2022 leaving an address in City View, Sidings Close, Lancaster, which is close to the River Lune.

The dad-of-one is described as 6ft tall, of slim build, with short brown hair. When he was last seen, he was wearing a blue Hugo Boss tracksuit and black trainers.

Dan is originally from Coventry, then moved to Preston about eight years ago, and was living in Lancaster at the time of his disappearance.

Since he went missing, Lancashire Police’s search teams which includes dogs and drones, the police’s North West Underwater Search and Marine Unit, specialist water rescue personnel and dogs from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, together with Lancaster Area Search and Rescue and the National Police Air Service, have all searched for him.

Anyone with information about Daniel and where he might be, please contact police on 101 – quoting log 0250 of December 12.
