Tyson Fury series showing off beauty of Morecambe hits number one spot on Netflix

At Home with the Furys is the highest rated show on Netflix

A reality show about the life of Tyson Fury featuring stunning footage of Morecambe has become the number one rated show on Netflix.

At Home with the Furys reached number one in the UK on the global streaming channel on Thursday, its second day of release, ousting the American drama series 'Painkiller' from the top spot.

The nine-part series follows the world heavyweight boxing champion, his wife Paris and their six children as they go about their daily lives in the seaside town.

Tyson's ongoing battles with mental health, as he struggles to settle into home life following his short-lived retirement from boxing in 2022, is a main theme of the series.

And the beauty of Morecambe Bay is also front and centre, with numerous stunning shots of the coastline, beach and Promenade.

Many local businesses appear on the series too.

They include the Morecambe Hotel, where Tyson's brother Tommy and his fiancee Molly-Mae Hague reveal that they are expecting their first child, during a family get-together with Fury and his family (pictured below in a scene from the Netflix show).

The Furys also hold their youngest daughter Athena's christening at St Mary's Church in Poulton, followed by a party at the Midland Hotel, which is also the location for scenes where 'The Gypsy King' tells Paris about his plan to return to boxing.

The famous fighter is also shown having his hair cut at K1 Barber's on Euston Road, enjoying a brew at Keegan's coffee shop in Poulton Square, and paying a visit to Atkinson's chippy on Albert Road.

There are clips of him running on the Prom, taking the kids out on the seafront, visiting Salt Ayre tip, and Paris and daughter Venezuela having their nails done in Morecambe town centre, and Paris and the children going to the Uniform and Leisurewear shop on Euston Road.

At one point, Tyson decides on the spur of the moment to take the family camping, to the Sunnyside Campsite just around the corner from their home in the Heaton with Oxcliffe area of Morecambe.

"The team at Sunnyside Campsite are absolutely delighted to be featured in the new Netflix documentary, such a pleasure to have the Fury family as our guests and to meet the lovely team from Netflix," said a post on the Sunnyside Campsite Facebook page on Thursday.

Tyson and Paris have lived in the Lancaster and Morecambe area for around 15 years.

Born into a family of Irish travellers and named after the legendary heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson, Fury, who celebrated his 35th birthday on Saturday, has been a professional boxer since 2008 and is undefeated with 33 wins and one draw in 34 fights.

The charismatic and outspoken 'Gypsy King' captured the world heavyweight championship for the first time by defeating long-reigning Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

Afterwards, Tyson sank into a period of depression and bloated to around 27 stone, but shed the weight to make a stunning comeback to the ring in 2018.

He then defeated his American rival Deontay Wilder to win the WBC Heavyweight Title in Las Vegas in 2020, defending it in front of 94,000 fans at Wembley Stadium against Dillian Whyte in 2022.

His last fight was a 10th round win over Dereck Chisora last December (pictured below), and he is next due to fight former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou in a non-title boxing match on October 28 in Saudi Arabia.
