Traffic diversions are in place while St George's Quay is closed for rail bridge works.
The quay in Lancaster will be closed from 9am until 3pm today (Wednesday May 15) but may reopen earlier if work is completed.
A temporary prohibition of through traffic order is in place, which Lancashire County Council said was "necessary to allow rail bridge examination works to be carried out".
An alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via:-
St Georges Quay - Lune Road – West Road – Station Road – Westbourne Road – Meeting House Lane – Market Street – A6 China Street – A6 Bridge Lane – Damside Street – St Georges Quay.
Bus company Stagecoach said its number 4 service would be affected by the closure and will divert via Fairfield Road to the railway station and then back down Meeting House Lane towards the University. Stops along the Quay and Westfield Village cannot be served.
