VIDEO: Morecambe mum wins powerlifting title to qualify for British championship

Kimber-Lee Hicks with her Irish Pro Invitational Powerlifting Championship belt

A powerlifting champion mum from Morecambe is proving that strength runs in her family.

Kimber-Lee Hicks won the Irish Pro Invitational Powerlifting Championship at the weekend and now goes on to take part in the women's British championship in July.

The mum-of-three squatted 190kg, bench pressed 107.5kg and deadlifted 206kg to beat a field of top lifters from around the world at the event in Limerick.

She said winning the event had been "an amazing experience, fighting down to the last lift" and thanked her team for their support.

WATCH as Kimber-Lee deadlifts 206kg as husband Graham proudly watches on.

Kimber-Lee is the wife of Graham Hicks, former Britain's Strongest Man, and trains with him at their gym in the former VVV health club at Hest Bank.

She will now be training for the British championship which takes place in July in Manchester.

Graham recently took part in the World's Strongest Man event in the USA and earlier this year came third in Britain.
