Young amateur boxers from Morecambe are celebrating becoming North West champions.
Leo Mountain from Coastal Amateur Boxing Club fought at the weekend at an event in Blackburn against Ben Clements from Cleator Moor ABC, who was the current North West champion going into the bout.
Leo – who became Coastal ABC’s seventh North West regional champion – will now join the rest of the North West champions this coming weekend to face off against the North East champions in the last 16 of the national stage of the championships.
Meanwhile, Coastal ABC’s next show takes place later this month, featuring a full card of young boxing talent from across the Lancaster and Morecambe district.
The event, on Saturday October 19, takes place at the Red Rose Community Centre from 7pm, and is hosted by Beyond Radio’s Greg Lambert.
There was further local success at the event.
Morecambe and District Boxing Academy also had two North West development champions on Saturday, both from the same family.
Brothers Dinnie and Owney Kelly (pictured above), will also now compete at the finals in Blackburn this weekend.
