The hosts started quickly and after just five minutes Watson found his way into the box but Connor Ripley made save to his right to tip it behind for a corner.

A minute later, The Dons hit the woodwork. A scramble from a corner fell to defender Jack Tucker after an initial effort was saved, but his shot came back off the post and was cleared.

On 18 minutes, MK had another corner that wasn’t dealt with properly, and from inside the area captain Warren O’Hora volleyed home into the bottom corner of Ripley’s net.

With the Shrimps a goal down on half an hour, Derek Adams decided to make two changes, with Dylan Connolly and Adam Mayor brought on in place of Ryan Delaney and Anthony O'Connor.

The Shrimps brought Cole Stockton on in place of Caleb Watts at half time.

Despite the changes, the hosts made it 2-0 five minutes after the break.

A ball forward found sub Matthew Dennis, who rounded Farrend Rawson and drove home from inside the area.

Dennis could have scored again five minutes later in similar fashion, but this time his effort was saved by Ripley, with the deflection off Ryan Cooney just bobbling the right side of the post.

Ousmane Fane finally got a shot off for Morecambe in the dying minutes, but it was well off the mark, to round off an evening to forget for the Shrimps at Stadium MK.
