The hosts scored with less than two minutes on the clock.

Tomlinson’s left wing cross wasn’t cleared, and striker Max Dean curled home a fine effort into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Indeed, the Shrimps had goalkeeper Archie Mair to thank for keeping them in the game in the first half, as the stopper pulled off three excellent saves, including a vital one on one block to stop Dean adding to his tally midway through the first 45.

At the other end of the pitch, a superb Adam Mayor corner was flicked goalwards by Chris Stokes, only for a MK Dons defender to flick the ball over the bar from on the line.

Morecambe started the second half excellently and were level on 51 minutes.

A Jake Taylor corner was met by the head of Jacob Bedeau, and as the ball looped towards the goal, Jordan Slew provided the finishing touch from on the line to secure the equaliser.

At the other end, Dan Kemp was presented with good opportunity from around 15-yards out, though he failed to keep his first-time strike down as the ball sailed harmlessly over the bar.

Dean’s first-time strike inside the box was then blocked by Stokes before being cleared.

In the second minute of stoppage time, substitute Brown won it for the Shrimps.

The forward picked up a loose ball inside his own half, and ran all the way to the edge of the MK penalty area, before unleashing a powerful low drive in to the bottom corner of Filip Marschall’s net.
