The Shrimps took the lead in the seventh minute. An Adam Mayor corner wasn’t cleared and Eli King picked up the ball on left hand tip of the area, driving low into the net for his first EFL goal.

Doncaster had a couple of chances to draw level on 20 minutes. First, Adam Smith denied Owen Bailey at close range before Mo Faal’s effort was cleared off the line by Jacob Bedeau, with his rebound effort flying way over the bar.

The Shrimps doubled their advantage just past the half hour mark.

King threaded a delicious ball through to Michael Mellon, who ran through one on one. His first effort was saved by Louis Jones, but the striker managed to claim the rebound, turn and fire low into the corner.

Tom Bloxham forced Jones to turn the danger behind, as the Shrimps ended the half strongly.

Six minutes after the restart, it was 3-0.

Adam Mayor got to the byline on the left, and his drilled delivery across goal found Jacob Bedeau who flicked the ball home from close range to net his first Morecambe goal.

A huge chance then went begging for the hosts on 63 minutes. Jack Goodman latched onto a through ball before striking across Smith, the ball flying inches wide of the far post.

Morecambe scored again ten minutes from time, with a sublime team move. The ball was worked to Adam Mayor, who under pressure laid into the path of David Tutonda, who smashed an effort into the top corner off the underside of the crossbar.

Michael Mellon then put the icing on the cake for Morecambe with the last kick of the game, firing home an Eli King corner at the back post for his 15th goal of the season.

The result leaves the Shrimps a point outside the League Two play off places, with a game in hand.
