The Shrimps found themselves ahead in spectacular fashion on eight minutes. Cole Stockton curled a brilliant effort into the top corner from 30 yards.

The Addicks failed to create much in front of goal themselves, other than a Jes Rek-Sakyi effort easily saved by Connor Ripley.

Stockton then headed wide, before the striker missed a golden opportunity to double the lead just before the break. A right wing cross from Dan Crowley found him at the back post, but he could only fire over from close range.

Then, in stoppage time, the hosts found an equaliser through Rek-Sakyi who met the cross from Jack Payne inside the Shrimps’ box to slam home.

Morecambe retook the lead on 56 minutes. Cooney did well to wrestle possession back in the centre, and he played in Jensen Weir on the right, who fed a delicious ball through to Stockton, who stabbed home his eighth of the season.

Minutes later, Morecambe scored for a third time. Stockton’s shot from distance was too hot to handle, but there was Jensen Weir at the back post who made no mistake with the rebound for his 11th of the campaign.

With just over 10 to play, The Addicks pulled one back through Scott Fraser who controlled Sean Clare’s cross and struck on the turn, finding the target from eight yards out.

But it was the Shrimps who held out for just their second away win of the season, a result that moves them to within just goal difference of League One safety, with two games to play.
