Amateur boxers from a Morecambe club enjoyed a night of success at its first ever show at the town's Alhambra venue.

Morecambe and District Boxing Academy's event on Friday night was attended by a packed crowd at the former Carleton.

There were victories on the night for the club's Monty Thorpe, Nathan Chandler, Harrison Dent (pictured below), Lauchlan Savage and Max Ansell.

The M.A.D Boxing show included five three-round 'skills' matchups featuring club boxers Robert Hill, Tyson Price, Patrick Thompson, Jimmy Delaney and Martin Thompson. Judges do not score in 'skills' contests.

M.A.D Boxing's Finn Rayner, Finn Brindle and Scott Mahon were also in action on the night.

The show was held in memory of Joe Wright, 15, one of the club's boxers.

Profits from the show went to Papyrus, a UK charity for the prevention of suicide in young people.

A total of £700 was also raised from bids for items of memorabilia signed by WBC World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury and his brother, fellow professional boxer Tommy Fury.

Morecambe and District Boxing Academy is based on Westgate and is run by boxing coach and referee Paul Fielding.
