New head coach appointed at Vale of Lune

Dan Williams

A new head coach has been appointed at the Vale of Lune rugby club.

Dan Williams is no stranger to the Powder House Lane faithful, having played for all of the senior male teams and served as head coach before.

He is already well known and respected in local rugby circles.

A Welsh rugby upbringing and a career in sports education add to his impressive range of qualities.

Dan takes the reins with immediate effect and is already planning pre-season training for the Vale players.

After paying tribute to work of his predecessors: Joel Unsworth and Rob Quarry, the new coach said of his appointment: "I am absolutely delighted to have been offered the position of head coach at the Vale of Lune. I’m super excited to see what we can bring out of the senior teams working alongside each other next season."

Dan will work with current assistant coach Richard Chadwick who has been acting as interim head coach since March.

As the Williams era begins, the Vale remain in the NW2 league for the 2023/24 season. Fixture dates are yet to be confirmed but, last season's relegations and promotions elsewhere present the Vale with fresh opponents in; Liverpool St Helens, Whitchurch and Kirkby Lonsdale.
