Swedish forward Julian Larsson has joined Morecambe on loan for the remainder of the season from Nottingham Forest.

The highly rated forward arrives from the Premier League side, where he has spent the previous four years as an integral part of the U23 squad.

Larsson becomes the second transfer deadline day signing for the Shrimps, following the arrival of midfielder Nelson Khumbeni from Bolton Wanderers.

Prior to his arrival at The City Ground, the 22-year-old progressed through the academy ranks at Swedish top-flight side AIK.

Despite his age, Larsson already boasts a wealth of international experience, having represented Sweden at youth level 14 times, including one appearance at the U17 European Championships.

This campaign, he netted in a 2-1 win over Accrington Stanley in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy before featuring again in the same competition against Doncaster Rovers.

Manager Ged Brannan spoke of his delight at the signing of Larsson, saying: "He's come from a top club in Nottingham Forest, you're not a bad player if you're playing for a team like that!

"I'm looking forward to getting him in; he'll bolster our attacking threat.

"You need two players for every position really and we were struggling up front to be fair. We needed a couple more players to come in to compete and competition for places, so I'm made up he's come in - he's going to bring quality to the squad.

"He's quick, he's direct, you can either put him out wide and cut him inside or you can play him off the nine or as a nine, so he can play anywhere right across the front which is beneficial to us straight away - he's very direct, a great finisher and has an eye for goal."
