The Morecambe manager has dismissed any suggestion that the next couple of weeks will be ‘pivotal’ in the Shrimps’ battle to beat the drop from League One.
Morecambe go into Christmas bottom of the table, with 15 points from 21 games, and six points from safety. The Shrimps next run of fixtures sees a trip to Port Vale on Boxing Day, ahead of three successive home games against Accrington Stanley, Burton Albion and Cheltenham Town.

The fixtures could be seen as a vital chance to reduce the gap against sides in and around the Shrimps at the lower end of the table, but Derek Adams says that’s not the case, in a long season.
‘’No, not really,’’ said Adams, when asked by Beyond Radio if he believed the next couple of weeks were crucial.
‘’The season lasts for 46 games and there’s a long way to go. We’re six points adrift from safety at this moment in time, that’s where we are. But, we have a lot of good games coming up, teams who are in and around us, and a good opportunity to pick up maximum points.
‘’We need to try and get those three points which will enable us to try and move above them in the table.
‘’We’ve got a squad of players fit and ready to go, which is important as we have three games in a short space of time.’’
