Lancaster City will travel to Nantwich Town this Saturday (December 10) hoping to get all three points off them this time.

The two sides drew 1-1 in the opening game of the 2022/23 NPL Premier Division campaign at the Giant Axe.

It’s the first of three consecutive away games for the Dolly Blues, with trips to Radcliffe and Guiseley before they return to the Giant Axe on Boxinh Day for a clash with Bamber Bridge.

The match on Saturday will kick off at the earlier time of 1pm so that both sets of fans can get back in time to watch England’s World Cup quarter final match against France at 7pm.

Both teams suffered tricky starts to the season but their form has picked up in recent weeks. Nantwich are unbeaten in six competitive games, whereas Lancaster had won four league games on the bounce before losing 3-1 to Marine AFC last Saturday.

Nantwich Town have only won twice at home this season, while Lancaster’s away form has been solid, the Dollies have won four of their nine games on the road.

The Dabbers have had a change of manager since their last meeting with the Dollies in August. Dave Cooke stood down in early September and former Morecambe defender Ritchie Sutton took over, joined by Gary Taylor-Fletcher.

We are now well into the stage of the season where the league table starts to take shape.

Nantwich Town have played exactly half of their league games for the season and sit just above the drop zone in 18th, while Lancaster will reach the halfway stage of their league campaign on Saturday and are currently 14th, much improved on their position in mid-October when they occupied a relegation place.

Nantwich Town versus Lancaster City kicks off at 1pm on Saturday December 11 at the Weaver Stadium.
