Lancaster City host Bamber Bridge in Boxing Day clash

Lancaster City will host local rivals Bamber Bridge on Boxing Day in both teams’ first game in 23 days.

All of their games since December 3 had been postponed due to bad weather conditions or fixture clashes with the opposition.

Playing Bamber Bridge during the festive period could be considered something of a Christmas tradition of late for Lancaster City. In the 2019-20 season and 2021-22 season, the two sides faced each other on the 26th and 27th of December respectively, but both games ended in a victory for ‘Brig’.

Both sides come into this festive, and potentially feisty, fixture in relatively good form. Bamber Bridge have won their last three in all competitions, including a 1-0 win over Lancaster in November in the LFA Challenge Trophy.

Lancaster City, meanwhile, had won four league games on the spin until losing 3-1 to Marine in their final outing before the weather disrupted the schedule. It was a game that no one had predicted to be a tense affair, but it was however marred by a series of yellow cards, 13 to be precise.

The Dollies’ club photographer Phil Dawson has donated a 30’’ x 16’’ canvas print of the first-team squad to the club, and it will be raffled on Boxing Day at the Giant Axe. Tickets are priced at £1 each.

Lancaster City v Bamber Bridge kicks off at 3pm on Boxing Day at the Giant Axe.
