Lancaster City face Gainsborough Trinity looking to bounce back

Lancaster City will travel to Gainsborough Trinity this weekend looking for a response to their loss in midweek.

The Dollies lost 1-0 away to Basford United on Tuesday evening thanks to an early goal for the hosts.

Basford are currently in the NPL Premier Division drop zone and were rock bottom of the league table before they welcomed the Dolly Blues, so defeat will have come as a bitter disappointment.

After having a strong start to the season, finding themselves second in mid-September, Lancaster have only won one of their last six league games and now occupy 12th place.

If they get a result on Saturday and others go their way, they could be just a couple of points off those in the playoff places.

Gainsborough Trinity, a team who finished fourth last season, are 16th at the moment, but are yet to lose at home this season (won three, drawn four) so will provide a tough test for City.

Lancaster City announced earlier this week that defender Pat Allington has joined Kendal Town on dual registration in order to try and get more game time, something Paul Jarvis also did earlier in the season.

Gainsborough Trinity v Lancaster City kicks off at 3pm on Saturday (November 4) at the Kal Group Stadium.
