Tyson Fury beats Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium then vows to retire

Tyson Fury produced a perfect punch to stop Dillian Whyte then vowed that he will retire from professional boxing.

The Morecambe-based 'Gypsy King' retained his WBC World Heavyweight Title after stopping Whyte in the sixth round in front of 94,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

Fury landed a huge right uppercut to floor the challenger and although Whyte rose to his feet, he was on unsteady legs and the referee called a halt.

Tyson, 33, had dominated the fight against the Londoner, putting on a superb boxing display.

Afterwards he told the crowd, the biggest for a post-war UK boxing event, that this was his last professional boxing match.

He said he intends to return to Morecambe to spend time with his wife Paris and their children.

As is traditional after his fights, the undefeated Fury treated the fans to a rendition of 'American Pie'.

Earlier, the Gypsy King (now 32-0-1 with 23 KOs) had made a typically flamboyant entrance as footage of him at Morecambe Winter Gardens played on the big screen.

He received a hero's welcome from an overwhelmingly pro-Fury crowd who booed the arrival of his opponent.

Tyson quickly gained control of the fight with quick jabs and counterpunches, not allowing Whyte to gain a foothold.

Having lost the opening three rounds, the challenger tried rough tactics in Round 4 and both fighters were warned by the referee.

Fury soon re-established command and the finishing punch was surely one of the best he has ever thrown.

On the undercard, Tyson's friend and training partner Isaac Lowe suffered his second consecutive professional loss.

The Morecambe featherweight was stopped in the sixth round by Liverpool's Nick Ball.

Lowe started brightly but was floored heavily by a left hook in Round 2 then cut by a clash of heads.

The blood clearly hampered 'the Westgate Warrior's performance and although he fought bravely, Ball finished him with a barrage of shots - somewhat controversially as Lowe's back was turned - as the towel came in from the Morecambe man's corner.

Isaac's record drops to 21 wins, 2 defeats and 3 draws.
