Steptoe and Son comes to the West End of Morecambe

Matt Panesh and David Findlay will star in Steptoe and Son at the West End Playhouse

A stage version of the classic TV sitcom Steptoe and Son will be performed in the West End of Morecambe.

David Findlay and Matt Panesh will take on the roles made famous by Wilfred Bramble and Harry H Corbett in the 70s BBC comedy.

Their show will be performed at the West End Playhouse on Yorkshire Street in Morecambe and will kickstart a '2022 Playhouse Presents...' series leading up to the Morecambe Fringe Festival in July.

Performances are at 8pm tonight (February 17), Friday (February 18) and Saturday (February 19).

The story about the two rag 'n' bone men from Shepherds Bush ran for eight series and became a worldwide hit.

"We are using the original script written by Galton and Simpson," said Matt Panesh, who is also producer of Morecambe Fringe and the West End Players.

"We were very excited when we got the rights to do it. We're putting our own stamp on it. The rehearsals have been an absolute joy."
