Red Arrows due to fly over Lancaster area en route to air show

The Red Arrows are scheduled to fly over our local area on their way to a major North West air show.

The RAF display team is expected to fly over Carnforth, Lancaster and Galgate on Friday afternoon en route to the Blackpool Air Show this weekend.

Their estimated time when they will fly over the Lancaster area, in transit, is 4.20pm on Friday.

Their announced flight path shows them leaving RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire at 4pm and taking a route via Burton in Kendal, Lancaster and Scorton.

A Carnforth Town Council spokesperson said: "On Friday 11th August the Red Arrows will be flying to Blackpool Airport so that they are in position for the airshow at the weekend.

"Part of their route will bring them over Lancaster, from the north they will pass close to Carnforth then south approximately over Lancaster Castle and onward over Galgate.

"This is an approximate route and they are due over Carnforth at 16:20 approximately."

The Red Arrows are due to perform at the air show over Blackpool Promenade on Saturday and Sunday at 2pm.

All transit flights are approximate and subject to change.

Last summer there was disappointment among expectant onlookers when the Red Arrows flew over Morecambe Bay in transit, earlier than announced.
