PHOTOS: Teachers at Heysham school pay homage to 'The Masked Singer' to delight kids on World Book Day

Caroline Moorby unmasked as one of The Masked Readers at Trumacar Primary School on World Book Day

Teachers at a Heysham school got into the spirit of World Book Day with a nod to TV show The Masked Singer!

As part of Trumacar Primary School's World Book Day celebrations on Thursday, staff took part in 'The Masked Reader'.

They dressed up in masked costumes and read to the children, who then had to guess their identities.

The pupils also chanted 'Take it off!' calling for the staff to unmask, just like the audience do on the hit TV show 'The Masked Singer'!

The Masked Readers included Chris Beckett as Captain America, Caroline Moorby in a skeleton costume, and the school's executive head teacher Paul Slater as Darth Vader!

Many other schools across the Lancaster and Morecambe District celebrated World Book Day too, with activities and fabulous outfits.

Great Wood Primary School posted on Facebook: "We’re sure you will agree that the children look wonderful in their creative outfits.

"Thank you to everyone for the effort that you put in for our day of celebrating reading.

"Here are a few photos of the children during our assembly this morning and in their classes. Fantastic effort Great Wood!"

Bolton-le-Sands C of E Primary School posted on Facebook: "Well what a morning we’ve had here in school, such amazing costumes and wonderful enthusiasm from all the children and staff.

"We started off the day with our World Book Day Launch Assembly which included a visit from Supertato and Evil Pea.

"As well as a brilliant quiz, where the children had to solve a wide range of book related questions and guess the teachers hiding behind their favourite books.

"The fun has continued in class with many more photos to come. We’ve had a wonderful time so far, thank you everyone for all your hard work.

"World Book Day Rocks! Go Team BLS!"

Caton St Paul's C of E Primary posted on Facebook:

"We've had a lovely day in school for World Book Day. Children (and staff) came to school in their pyjamas and have taken part in book-related activities throughout the day.

"We started with each teacher reading a story to a mixed-age group of children which was fantastic. We also had a book sale, organised by our brilliant Y6 children, and even a book sale for the grown-ups organised by the PTA.

"Well done to all!!"
