Students across our local area have been receiving their A Level results today.

Lancaster Royal Grammar School (LRGS) reported that almost half of their results were A* or A grades (48.2 per cent) and well over two thirds of all results (70.4%) were A*, A or Bs.

Seven pupils achieved four A* grades and 10 others achieved three A*s.

Pupils receiving their results included Beyond Radio's sports reporter Ross Chapman, who co-hosts The Saturday Sports Show.

Ross (pictured below, centre) will now be going to the University of Central Lancashire in Preston to study sports journalism.

Dr Chris Pyle, headmaster at LRGS, said: “Huge congratulations to every single one of our students on these outstanding A-level results.

"Today is a day to celebrate and enjoy their success. It is excellent to see our students progressing to a wonderful array of university courses, degree apprenticeships and other opportunities.

“We are immensely proud of our Sixth Formers – girls and boys, boarding and day – for all they have achieved over the past two years. Some have come through particular challenges. They have also contributed hugely to the life of the school beyond the classroom.

“Thank you to staff for providing the exceptional teaching and pastoral care which are the hallmarks of Lancaster Royal Grammar School.

“Very best wishes to our Sixth Form students as they prepare for the exciting next stage of their journeys. I know that they will go from strength to strength.”

Here are more LRGS students with their results.

At Ripley St Thomas School in Lancaster, head teacher Ed Goddard said they were "delighted" at this year's A Level results.

"This cohort of Year 13 had a disrupted time at GCSE due to Covid and therefore this summer was their first experience of sitting formal examinations," said Mr Goddard.

"They have shown remarkable resilience and determination and they have worked incredibly hard. We are very proud of them and congratulate them on their very well-deserved A Level results.

"I would like to thank the staff team at Ripley for working tirelessly to support pupils both academically and pastorally throughout their time in our Sixth Form and also our parents and carers for their ongoing involvement and support.

"We wish all our students the best for their futures and we look forward to hearing how they get on in the years to come."
