Man charged with public order offences after incident on train at Lancaster station

Police had to use pepper spray on a man behaving aggressively on a train at Lancaster station.

Officers from British Transport Police were approached by a woman who was concerned for her 15-year old daughter who was on a train arriving at the station earlier this week.

The girl was concerned about the behaviour towards her by a man on the train she was travelling on, so called her mother for help.

Upon arrival at Lancaster, officers went to speak to him, but he became aggressive, and threatened to fight the officers.

He was stopped after pepper spray was deployed, arrested and taken into custody, where he spent the night in the cells.

A 42-year old man from Slough was then interviewed and charged with two public order offences.

He has been bailed to court later this month, with conditions not to enter or travel on the railway.

Officers are now reminding people travelling on the railway and in need of police assistance, that a mobile app called ‘Rail Guardian’ is available, that allows incidents to be reported, and photos and mobile phone footage to be uploaded.
