Lancaster and Morecambe residents light up their homes to help others this Christmas

Harold and Lynn Jackson's home is lit up to raise money for Cancer Research UK

Residents are lighting up their homes to make lives better for others this Christmas.

Natasha and Shaun Valentine illuminate their house on Morecambe Road every year to "try to make people smile and get them in festive mood".

This year the Valentines are raising money for MIND,  a charity that helps support people with mental health issues.

"We have chosen this charity as it is very close to our hearts, as last year in October we lost our brother in law to bad mental health," said Natasha,

"We are hoping to raise as much money as possible for MIND, therefore any donations are greatly appreciated.

"We do have a sign outside our house at, 44 Morecambe Road, Morecambe, LA3 3A, which has a QR code that if you scan it, you will be taken to our Just Giving page."

Here is the lights display outside the Valentines' home.

Harold and Lynn Jackson also light up their home on Torrisholme Road every year.

This year they are raising money for Cancer Research UK and their JustGiving page is here.

Meanwhile Westgate residents Ian and Diane Clifton announced the return of their popular Lincoln Close Illuminations.

The Cliftons have lit up their home on Lincoln Close for more than three decades, raising more than £72,000 for charity.

This year's illuminations are on a smaller scale than in previous years and raise funds for Derian House children's hospice in Chorley.
