Five women from North Lancashire have raised more than £8,000 for the Ukrainian relief effort after climbing Snowden in heels.
‘The Dream Team’ - Ania Kwiecnska, Agata Reliszka, Agnieszka Nowak-Hek, Slawka Kluszczynska-Stepien and Zofia Szarek - completed the challenge, climbing more than 3,500 feet, and smashing their £500 fundraising target.
They said: ‘’We felt that we needed to do something to support Ukraine's citizens.
‘’All the proceeds from this fundraising will go to the SOS Ukraine fundraising organised by the Polish Humanitarian Action, a Polish-based registered charity that will provide humanitarian assistance to displaced Ukraine citizens.''

Ania, Slawka and Zofia were accompanied by a team of two support walkers, Agata and Agnieszka, wearing boots and carrying food supplies.
They continued: ‘’We are especially gravely concerned about displacement and the subsequent soaring humanitarian needs, particularly the needs of children caught up in this unnecessary war. Any family forced from their home needs help with shelter, food, clean water – the absolute basics.
‘’We are also at the end of winter, with temperatures regularly below zero. This humanitarian aid will have to be funded somehow, so we want to help.
‘’By climbing Snowdon in heels, we also want to raise awareness about the current situation and to make sure that as many people as possible in the UK are aware of the current situation and therefore able to influence the UK government, so it continues its support to Ukraine and other countries in Eastern Europe that are dealing with the impact of this unprovoked attack.’’
