Carpet shop and car wash demolished ahead of new student flats on gateway to Lancaster

The land is opposite the Caton Court student accommodation on Bulk Road

A carpet shop and car wash have been demolished to make way for a new student flats development on the gateway to Lancaster.

Work has been taking place to prepare the site which is close to Bulk Road, Parliament Street and Caton Road.

In November 2022, planning permission was granted for 388 new student flats on the land on the one-way system into Lancaster.

The application by Primus Property Group (PPG) Lancaster was to knock down the former carpet store and car wash and build an eight-storey building and a six-storey building to house new studio flats for students.

Building work, led by contractors Bridgestone Construction, is due to start within the next couple of weeks.

The new complex will be opposite the Caton Court student village, which was built on Bulk Road in 2018.

And here are photos of work taking place on the site earlier this summer.
