Bay Volunteers call for help ahead of grand relaunch

Bay Volunteers are looking for more people to join them to support their work across Lancaster.

The initiative, formally the Lancaster District Support Line, supports the needs of people and communities across the Lancaster District, working with partners including Lancaster City Council, Lancaster District Community Hub, Lancaster District CVS, Lancaster and Bay Integrated Care Communities, Lancaster University Students' Union, among many others to bring support to those in our community who need it.

They also offer a Support Line where volunteers can sign up and pick which requests they are able to do, which mainly include shopping for someone, collecting and delivering post/parcels, collecting and delivering prescriptions, or befriending/listening calls for someone over the phone, as well as other requests like going on a listening walk with someone.

The organisation is holding a relaunch event this weekend (Saturday 26th March), from 12-3pm at Hope Church in Lancaster.

We caught up with Bay Volunteers manager. Matt Parker, to find out much more about the initiative (click the play button to listen):

Matt said: ‘’We are starting to grow what we do and as part of this, we are having a relaunch event following the name change at the end of last year and funding being acquired for me to be in my role and take Bay Volunteers forward, sustaining it for the future.

‘’We’re here to support those in the Lancaster District and are very much recruiting volunteers to help those who need support.’’
