A Lancaster orchestra will kick off its 2023/24 season with a classical music concert of two halves.
The Haffner Orchestra will perform at the Great Hall, Lancaster University, this Saturday (November 25).
The first half will see a performance of Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto no.2 with soloist Martin Roscoe: unarguably one of the UK’s best love pianists.
Then the orchestra will play Symphony no.2 by Sibelius, a piece connected to the composer’s homeland’s fight for independence and his own struggle and turning point in life.
There will be a pre concert talk with conductor Alex Robinson and Martin Roscoe at 6.30pm, and the concert starts at 7.30pm.
Tickets cost £16 for adults, admission free for children of 16 and under, and essential carers of disabled people. It's £5 for students and benefits claimants. Tickets available on the door.
