Events announced for festival celebrating 50 years ago in Lancaster

A line-up of events has been announced for a nostalgic festival celebrating the people, music and history of Lancaster in 1972.

The Lancaster Rewind Festival 1972, organised by Lancaster Business Improvement District (BID), takes place in September and will reflect on how the city has changed over the past half a century.

Events include:

August 22 to September 4

Keegan's Keepie-Uppies Competition on Facebook - go to @LoveLancasterBID for a chance to win 2 x VIP tickets to 'An Interview With Kevin Keegan' with meet and greet, at The Grand Theatre on Saturday September 16.

Sundays September 11 and 18

September 15 to 28

Rewind Exhibition curated by HPA Architects - at Lancaster City Museum. An exhibition of images of Lancaster from 1972 alongside photos which recapture the same view today.

Saturday September 17

70s Night at The Pub, China Street, Lancaster
Begins with Q&A with Barry Lucas

Barry is the former entertainments manager of Lancaster University who booked some of the biggest names in music to play at The Great Hall, including in 1972, and has some amazing stories to share! It was also the year when he founded Ear 'Ere Records in the city centre and he will be talking about this too, in conversation with Beyond Radio's Greg Lambert.

1972 Quiz Night hosted by Kriss Foster and 1970s Disco hosted by DJ Dandy Diamond
