Bomb disposal experts rushed to Oxenholme train station earlier today after a suspicious item was found.
The object was discovered by Network Rail workers in an embankment below the station this morning.
British Transport Police closed the road while the situation was dealt with.
Bomb disposal experts attended and item was declared harmless.
All roads have now reopened.
There was no disruption to train services.
