Successful month for Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club runners

Here are the latest results for Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club.

The first weekend of the month saw the third edition of the Mid Lancs Cross Country race this calendar year.

March’s meeting, which as ever featured dozens of LMAC runners in several age categories, was in Skelmersdale, and the LMAC results are as follows - there were many who finished high in the rankings :

A bit closer to home, the Trimpell 20 mile run took place on March 10.

Two LMAC runners completed the race: Mark Leadbeatter and Nicola Barnes recorded times of 2.06.59 and 3.56.13 respectively.

The Garstang 10K Gallop on March 17 had a big LMAC turnout - here are the results:

There were three LMAC runners in the Liverpool Half Marathon on the same day.

Mark and Elaine Simmill finished with times of 1.59.45 and 2.13.43, while Mikes Roy recorded a time of 1.31.40, which is very impressive as he had suffered an injury for some time before the half marathon.

Later in the month, Matthew McVey ran the Carlisle Half Marathon on in 1.31.31, Mikes Roy ran the Wilmslow Half Marathon in 1.39.57 and Christine Perry finished the Caldervale Two Mile Fun Run in 21.20.

Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club chairman Alan Wyllie ran the Rome Marathon in four hours and 26 minutes on March 17.

April is a big month for Lancaster and Morecambe Athletics Club, with the Three Bridges race, an original club event, on Sunday, April 14.

It starts at the LMAC clubhouse on Salt Ayre’s athletics track, then up the cycleway to the Millennium Bridge, over the bridge and onto the cycleway heading up to Halton.

From there, the participants will go up the steps at the aqueduct, across the aqueduct, down Halton Road, over Skerton Bridge, back onto the cycleway and back to the clubhouse at Salt Ayre.

Online entries for the race, priced at £14 for club members and £16 for non-members excluding booking fee, are open until Wednesday.
