Morecambe FC Chief Exec wins League Two CEO of the Year award

Ben Sadler has been named League Two CEO of the Year at the Football Business Awards.

Since the awards began in 2012, the best football club CEOs have been recognised and celebrated each year.

After senior contacts from each club were consulted and the votes counted, Sadler was confirmed winner of the prestigious award.

A celebration event will take place on May 24 in London for all winners to collect their trophies before an overall winner will be announced at the end of the ceremony.

The category for overall CEO of the Year is made up of:

  • Premier League - Billy Hogan, Liverpool FC
  • Championship - Neil Bausor, Middlesbrough FC
  • League One - Andrew Cullen, Portsmouth FC
  • League Two - Ben Sadler, Morecambe FC
  • SPFL - Andrew McKinlay, Heart of Midlothian FC

Speaking of his win and subsequent nomination for overall CEO of the Year, Sadler said: "This football club is a unique place, absolutely full of colleagues and people that have worked ever so hard to improve it over a number of years, in the face of severe adversity.

"It is testament to the work that everyone has put in that the Club is being recognised externally in a way like never before this season.

"It has been a true pleasure to work with the people I do, and for the town and community we very proudly represent.”
