Morecambe beat Southport 3-1 in their second pre-season friendly of the summer last night.
The Shrimps got some competitive minutes under their belt against their National League North opponents at The Big Help Stadium.
All of the current first team squad were handed game time, with the exception of midfielder Jake Taylor, who remained absent.
The Shrimps took the lead on 34 minutes, thanks to a free kick from distance from summer signing, Joel Senior, before doubling the advantage four minutes later thanks to an effort from inside the box from striker Michael Mellon.
Hmami pulled one back for Southport eight minutes after half time, before the two goal cushion was restored soon after, when defender Chris Stokes fired home from inside the area.
Derek Adams’ men are next in action on Saturday, with a trip to Burscough from the North West Counties Premier Division.
Morecambe then end their pre-season programme with two home fixtures against League One opposition at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium – Blackpool on Tuesday July 25, and Wigan Athletic on Saturday July 29.
