Shrimps snap up former Everton striker 

Experienced striker Oumar Niasse has today joined Morecambe FC on a contract to the end of the 2022/23 season.

Former Everton striker Oumar has a distinguished playing career, spending 4 years at Goodison Park were netted 8 times after being signed for £13.5m. Striker Niasse would spend time on loan at Hull City & Cardiff City before joining Burton Albion in League One for the 2021-22 season.

At 32, Oumar has also represented his country, Senegal, as a full international.

On joining The Shrimps, Oumar has said, “It is fantastic to be here and to join the club. When I spoke to the Manager and staff it was clear that there is a togetherness and unity here that I want to be part of.”

“I see that challenge that is ahead of us, but it is one I relish and look forward to and I want to help this club achieve the target of staying in League One.”

Manager Derek Adams was delighted to bring in a striker that he feels can add to the group, “I am delighted to bring Oumar to the Mazuma Stadium. He is a player with good experience and is at a good age.
 

‘’We have been trying to bring in a striker for a period of time and we wanted to make sure that player was going to be the right fit which we feel Oumar will be.”
