Shrimps prepare for FA Cup Owls test

Morecambe travel to Sheffield Wednesday in the first round of the FA Cup.

The Shrimps head to Hillsborough on Friday evening on the back of two encouraging performances in the last week in the league, as they secured excellent draws against Wycombe Wanderers and Derby County.

There’s a preview of the game in the latest episode of The Shrimps Verdict Podcast

Ash Hunter, Jake Taylor and Max Melbourne remain side lined, while Derek Adams has also revealed two other players may be missing with knocks.

First team captain Donald Love is available after sitting out the midweek draw with the Rams through suspension.

Morecambe have already faced Darren Moore’s men in League One this season, losing 3-0 at the Mazuma in September.

‘’We always look forward to the FA Cup,’’ said Adams.

‘’We’ve probably got the toughest game (in the round), but we got there coming off some really good performances against Barnsley, Wycombe and Derby.

‘’We understand the abundance of talent they’ve got in their squad but they might make changes, they have another big game next week against Southampton (in the Carabao Cup), but it’s a game everyone is looking forward to.

‘’It’s not ideal that the game has been moved but I’m sure we’ll still take a very good following.

‘’We’ve done really well at times this season, and already beaten two Championship sides.

‘’We’d have liked a different tie. You don’t want a big team away from home, but that’s the draw.

‘’Sheffield Wednesday will have seen our results and will understand we tend to do well against bigger teams.’’
