Why Does It Always Rain On Me

Shrimps hand Adam Mayor first pro deal

Morecambe FC has announced young forward Adam Mayor has signed a professional contract with the Club.

Mayor, 18, has been with the Shrimps since 2020, originally joining the Club's Academy at the age of 16. His impressive performances within the youth setup saw Mayor progress on to the first-team earlier this season, where he has since gone on to make 15 appearances for Derek Adams' side, scoring two goals.

In signing his first professional contract, Mayor has committed his future to Morecambe until at least the summer of 2025.

On his new deal, Mayor said: "I'm made up to have signed and can't wait to get started properly now.

"It's been a tough but really enjoyable experience being in the first-team over the past few months. The game is a lot quicker, but I like it because it's a real challenge, and I want to build on the progress I've already made.

"It gives me a lot of confidence knowing that the gaffer believes in me, and I want to work even harder for the team now as we look to push on."

Manager Derek Adams said: "We're delighted to get one of our Academy players promoted into the first-team.

"Adam has played over 600 minutes already this season, which is testament to him. He's acquitted himself well to football at this level, and scored two goals so far, playing with a freedom and an understanding of the game which is something you need as a young player.

"We're all really pleased as a football club, and feel he can bring a lot to the team going forward."
