Shrews striker joins Shrimps

Morecambe have completed their second signing of the day, with forward Tom Bloxham joining on a season long loan from Shrewsbury Town.

The 19-year-old originally came through the youth system at Leicester City before making his way to League One Shrewsbury Town in 2018.

At six feet five inches tall, Bloxham has already made more than 80 appearances for Shrewsbury since his debut against Lincoln City on 27th April 2021. 66 of those appearances have come in League One.

Bringing him to Morecambe, Derek Adams said: “Tom is a player we were aware of in League One and somebody we kept an eye on and tracked.

‘’When we knew there was a possibility this could happen, we were keen to accelerate that process and bring Tom to Morecambe for the season. I also have to thank Shrewsbury Town for working with us to make this happen.”

“He has a terrific number of games behind him for such a young player. He is also a big physical threat for us and gives us a different dimension to what we already have.”

On joining the Shrimps, Bloxham added: “I am excited for this challenge. I wanted to come and test myself in a different environment this season and I am looking forward to being part of the Morecambe squad for the League Two campaign.”

“The manager and staff have put together a very good group of players here this summer and it’s a group I am really pleased to be joining and I am eager to make sure I can add to the quality already in the building.”
