Run of victories for Coastal rounds off excellent boxing show in Morecambe

Troy Gallagher on his way to a unanimous decision win

Coastal Amateur Boxing Club enjoyed a run of victories on their home show in Morecambe.

There were wins for Coastal boxers Troy Gallagher, Joe Craddock, Aimal Sherifi, Paul Anthony and Josh Sharp in front of a packed crowd at the Red Rose Community Centre on West End Road on Thursday night.

The evening began with two 'skills' contests where judges were not scoring, involving Coastal's Bob Howard and Dave Harrison.

Harvey Higham (pictured below) came out on the wrong end of a split decision in the first scored bout of the evening, with Macclesfield's Tommy Lee Hampson picking up the close win.

Josh Sharp, England Schoolboys Champion, was in excellent form as he thoroughly dominated Callum Routledge of Carlisle Villa for all three rounds to earn a unanimous decision.

Leo Mountain lost a unanimous decision to Ben Clements of Cleator Moor, Billy Thompson was stopped in the first round by Lucas Sloane of FKB, and three-time North West Champion and national finalist Declan Wakeman was beaten via a close split verdict in an excellent fight with the heavy-handed Michael Millar of Glenrothes.

But Coastal's fortunes then turned around with four straight wins to close the evening, much to the crowd's delight.

Paul Anthony boxed superbly to clearly outpoint the tough Yusif Kamara of Metro boxing club, and Aimal 'Milo' Sherifi scored a standing count on his opponent Ryan Scott of Furness Catholic on his way to a unanimous decision.

Joe Craddock used his jab and clean punches inside to earn a deserved unanimous decision over Callum Hamer of Holmes Chapel.

And Troy Gallagher rounded off the night with a terrific display in beating Jack Gregory of Technique boxing club unanimously on points.

The event was attended by professional boxers Isaac Lowe, Owen Kirk and Dylan Cheema.
