The search for a first home league win for manager Ged Brannan goes on after a disappointing afternoon at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium.

Morecambe went into the contest in League Two on the back of an away win at MK Dons, and were without defender Joel Senior and winger Gwion Edwards through hamstring issues, while Adam Mayor was also absent through suspension.

Striker Ged Garner and defender Kayden Harrack made their home debuts.

Chances were at a premium in the opening exchanges, before the visitors drew first blood just past the half way point of the half.

Jacob Bedeau conceded a free kick 25 yards out, and Arthur Read curled the ball into the top right corner to open the scoring on 27 minutes.

At the other end, Charlie Brown had a strong penalty appeal turned down, before the first half drew to close.

The Shrimps started the second half strongly, and had a great chance to equalise when a weaving run by Jake Taylor ended with him being felled inside the area, to win his side a penalty.

On loan striker Ged Garner stepped up to take, but Owen Goodman was equal to his low left footed effort.

Jacob Bedeau then thought he’d equalised, finishing smartly from range, but there was an offside in the build up.

An end-to-end finish to the game saw Bedeau flashing a header just wide of the post, as the visitors saw the game out to take all three points back to Essex.
