Report: Morecambe 0-0 Bolton Wanderers

Morecambe continued their impressive home form with a battling display in a goalless draw with Bolton Wanderers at the Mazuma Stadium.

The draw means Derek Adams’ men have now lost just once in their 12 home games.

Wanderers had the first clear chance of the game on seven minutes, when goalkeeper Connor Ripley made an excellent early save to deny Shola Shoretire at his near post.

Six minutes later Ash Hunter whipped in a cross from the left which was headed just over by Farrend Rawson, before Rawson knocked down a free kick to Cole Stockton, who’s snap shot was wide of the mark.

Later in the half Hunter picked out Liam Shaw from the right, but the midfielder glanced a header wide of the far post.

Ripley made another excellent save low to his right just before the break to deny Dion Charles from outside the area.

The visitors started the second half brightly but couldn’t breach a stubborn Morecambe back line.

Ash Hunter sent a free kick into the arms of Trafford, before the Bolton goalkeeper was called into action by Jensen Weir 20 minutes into the second half when he parried away his powerful drive from inside the area.

Wanderers substitute Dan N’Lundulu saw his shot saved at the near post by Ripley in the closing stages, with the Shrimps stopper also being called into action to deny a Sheehan low drive.

Morecambe move onto 32 points for the season with 12 games to go, but the Shrimps have slipped back into the relegation zone after Accrington beat Forest Green Rovers this afternoon.
