The Shrimps raced into a two goal lead inside the first 12 minutes.

With the first corner of the game after three minutes, Charlie Brown’s right side delivery wasn’t dealt with and Dave Tutonda’s cheeky back flick found the net from close range.

The lead was doubled eight minutes later, when Gwion Edwards robbed a Barrow defender on the edge of the box, before taking the ball round goalkeeper Farman and coolly finishing into the empty net to send the home faithful into delirium.

The Bluebirds has plenty of possession but shots were limited, aside from a low drive by former striker Cole Stockton through a crowd of players, that was repelled by the feet of Archie Mair.

Into the second half, and it was the visitors who had the lion’s share of the ball, but Morecambe’s resolute defending again meant chances were at a premium.

Meanwhile at the other end, the Shrimps came close to extended their lead on a number of occasions.

Jordan Slew fired an effort wide from distance, before Nelson Khumbeni ‘s header from a pinpoint delivery from the right went wide with the goal gaping, and Jacob Bedeau who saw his diving header cleared close to the line.

Ben Whitfield gave the visitors hope with a minute of normal time remaining.

Elliot Newby danced into the Morecambe area before seeing his low drive saved by Mair, but the ball fortuitously hit the Barrow man and went in from close range.

After a nervous five minutes of stoppage time were played, the Mazuma Mobile Stadium roared again as the final whistle blew.
