Cole Stockton’s late equaliser cancelled out Jahmari Clarke's header nine minutes from time, with the point not enough for the Shrimps top climb out of the relegation zone.

Forest Green midfielder Tyresse Onyango had the first real chance of the game on 19 minutes, hitting the side netting after racing into the Morecambe box.

The Shrimps struggled to create a great deal in the final third themselves, and were grateful to Connor Ripley for saving well from a free kick five minutes before the interval.

After half time, Morecambe were a little brighter in attack, and thought they opened the scoring on the hour mark; Liam Shaw's strike from distance proving too hot to handle for the keeper, and Stockton was on hand to prod home the rebound, however the goal was ruled out for offside.

With ten minutes to go, the deadlock was broken. The visitors sent the ball into the box after a corner wasn’t cleared, with Brandon Cooper finding Clarke who headed the ball home from close range.

Morecambe equalised two minutes from time. A long ball forward from Ripley was laid into Stockton’s path by Michael Mellon, who smashed home for his fourth goal of the season.

Mellon could have won it at the death for the Shrimps, but his effort went just wide of the far post.
