The Shrimps came close to breaking the deadlock on 14 minutes. Jensen Weir crossed from the right but Dan Crowley headed over the bar.

On 22 minutes, Lewis Wing reacted quickest to a loose ball, but the Chairboys midfielder’s strike was deflected narrowly wide.

In the second half, the visitors had efforts off target from TJay De Barr, Chem Campbell and David Wheeler, while an acrobatic Cole Stockton effort was also off target for the Shrimps.

The game burst into life in the last ten minutes.

Connor Ripley was called into action to deny David Wheeler an opener at close range when through one on one from a long ball, before minutes later finding himself at full stretch to keep out Wing’s header.

With seconds of the 90 to play, Morecambe bought on Arthur Gnahoua, and his first touch saw him burst free down the right flank, his cross fell for Jake Taylor who saw his drive saved by Max Stryjek, but the ball fell to Stockton, who buried the rebound in front of the home faithful.

Wycombe came close to a dramatic equaliser in stoppage time, but Jack Grimmer’s header cannoned back off the crossbar and away to safety, before substitute Garath McCleary saw an effort saved by Ripley.
