Ged Garner's fourth minute goal was enough to give manager Ged Brannan his first home win as manager.

Morecambe, who hadn’t won at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium in six previous attempts in League Two since Brannan took charge, found themselves ahead inside the opening four minutes.

Joel Senior played a neat one-two with Charlie Brown down the right before squaring for Garner who made scored his third goal in two games from close range.

Brown then came close to doubling the advantage on 15 minutes after finding himself through on goal, but couldn’t fire past Dean Bouzanis who blocked the effort with his legs.

The Ambers struggled to get any clear sight of Morecambe’s goal, until a free kick right on the stroke of half time. Chris Stokes was judged to have handled on the edge of the area, and the resulting effort was charged down by the wall.

Sutton made a triple substitution at half time, but it was the Shrimps who continued to create the chances.

Among them, Gwion Edwards had the ball in the back of the net after meeting Joe Adams’ through ball, but was judged to be just offside.

Then, Garner received the ball from the right inside the box, turned and produced a strike on goal, with the ball deflected behind.

Edwards then unleashed a low drive from the edge of the box, which Bouzanis push round the post.

At the other end, Archie Mair was having  a quiet afternoon, aside from two comfortable saves in the last ten minutes, while Craig Eastmond fired over the bar from 15 yards.

Garner then had two late chances to seal the points.

First, his left footed effort from a narrow angle was saved low to the left, before a superb Jpel Senior ball found the number nine clear on goal, but he couldn’t provide the finish.
