Morecambe snap up Norwich goalkeeper on loan

Norwich City goalkeeper Archie Mair has joined Morecambe on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 22-year-old has spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Gateshead in the National League, making 26 appearances in all competitions.

Mair came through the ranks at Aberdeen between 2010 and 2019 before he made the long journey south to Carrow Road.

Spells at King's Lynn and Lincoln City followed before joining Notts County, where he made himself a hero after saving two spot kicks in the National League play-off final penalty shootout as the Magpies triumphed over Chesterfield for a place in Sky Bet League Two.

Speaking after arriving at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium, the 22-year-old said: "It feels really good [to be here], it all came about quite quickly to be honest.

"I was at Gateshead and, just before the game on the first, I had a call saying I was wanted here at Morecambe - ever since then, it's all happened quickly.

"I'm hoping to be quite consistent, I'm quite comfortable with the ball at my feet. Maybe they [the fans] will look at me and think I've a laid-back approach, but that's just how I play.

"Hopefully I can pull off a few saves as well!"

Having already featured in this season's FA Cup competition for Gateshead, Mair will not be eligible for Saturday’s trip to Swansea City.
