Morecambe prepare for Lancashire derby at Fleetwood

Morecambe make the short trip to Lancashire neighbours, Fleetwood Town, in League One this weekend.

The whole game from Highbury is live on Shrimps Live tomorrow afternoon (Saturday February 25), on our FM and DAB+ services, from 2:45pm.

Morecambe begin the day outside of the relegation places at the bottom end of the table, thanks to a 1-0 victory over Port Vale on Tuesday evening at the Mazuma Stadium.

‘’Fleetwood had a really good result against Cambridge (in midweek), and we know what they’re about. It’ll be a high tempo game, and it’s a sell out for away supporters,’’ said manager, Derek Adams.

‘’I watched them recently against Sheffield Wednesday, and they should have been 4-0 up that night, they’re very energetic and have done well this season.’’

The Shrimps are one point above the bottom four, but have played two games more than Accrington Stanley in 21st.

‘’We’d rather have points on the board,’’ added Adams.

‘’We’ve hit the 31 point mark now, and we’ve got 14 games to go to get as many wins as we possibly can.

‘’It's important that at the end of the season we're not in the relegation zone. That'd be a huge success again for this football club"

Striker Cole Stockton – who scored a memorable last minute winner from inside his own half in the same fixture last season – is a doubt for the game after coming off after half an hour in midweek with a hamstring issue.
