Morecambe look for fourth straight win in League One against Vale

Morecambe are looking to make it four straight wins in League One this weekend.

Port Vale visit the Mazuma Stadium, with the Valiants the last team to beat the Shrimps in the reverse fixture on Boxing Day.

There’s full commentary of the game tomorrow (January 21) on Shrimps Live, on our FM and DAB+ services, from 2:45pm.

Burnley loanee Michael Mellon will be in the squad, following an injury that prematurely ended the loan spell of striker Kieran Phillips.

‘’It was important we did that and it was unfortunate for Kieran to pick up the injury in the way he did,’’ said manager, Derek Adams.

‘’He did well for us, worked hard, scored goals, created goals. but it’s an opportunity now for someone else to take it on.

‘’This is our sixth loan deal, and they’ve all done well for us so far.

‘’There may be one, perhaps two going out, and we’re looking to maybe take in one more after the weekend.

Morecambe had no game last weekend, after their trip to Cambridge was postponed due to damage to the Abbey Stadium.

‘’We were looking forward to going to Cambridge, but unfortunately they had structural damage to their stadium. This weekend it’s another home game where we’re looking for another three points,’’ said Adams.

‘’’We were unfortunate to lose (on Boxing Day). I saw them against Peterborough on Monday and they just lost out to a bit of quality in the final third, but they’ve done well this season.

‘’Financially they are well equipped. They have done well and taken in good players over the summer. But we have the confidence.

‘’We have good options up top, and we’ve looked strong in recent games.’’

Midfielder Jake Taylor, defender Max Melbourne and striker Courtney Duffus remain absent from the squad through injury.
