Morecambe darts star Dave Chisnall wins his fourth European Tour title

Dave Chisnall becomes the first ever Baltic Sea Darts Open Champion

Morecambe darts ace Dave Chisnall claimed the first European Tour title of 2023 as he was crowned Baltic Sea Open Champion.

Chizzy defeated fellow Englishman Luke Humphries 8-5 in a thrilling final after performing superbly all tournament in Kiel, Germany.

It was the fourth European Tour title of Chisnall's career and came after earlier wins over Lewy Williams, Gerwyn Price, Martin Schindler and Jonny Clayton.

The popular player, who is from St Helens but has lived in Morecambe for more than a decade, crashed in eight 180s en route to beating world number five 'Cool Hand' Luke in the final at the packed Wunderino Arena.

Chizzy took the opening three legs without reply, capitalising on four early missed doubles from Humphries to take command.

Humphries hit back to level, landing legs of 13 and 12 darts along the way, and also shared the next two before Chisnall pulled clear.

Legs of 12 and 13 darts gave Chisnall breathing space, and double five gave him a third successive leg - and though Humphries took the next to keep his hopes alive, double five for a 13-darter sealed glory and the £30,000 top prize.

Dave's last 16 win over former world champion Price was described by the PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) as one of the best matches ever seen on the European Tour, as 'The Iceman' averaged 108 but still couldn't hold off an inspired Chizzy who triumphed 6-4.

Chisnall then downed home favourite Schindler 6-4 in the quarters before seeing off Clayton 7-5 in the semis, coming back from 5-2 down.
