Lancaster City travel to Matlock Town looking to build on a positive midweek result.

The Dolly Blues beat Whitby Town 2-1 on Tuesday at The Giant Axe in what was their fifth consecutive game at home.

The victory moved them up to 12th in the NPL Premier Division and extended their unbeaten run and their home unbeaten run to five and seven games respectively

Tuesday’s win was the second game that club captain Andrew Teague has taken charge of as interim manager, the first being a 2-2 draw with Bradford Park Avenue last Saturday.

Teague is assisted by fellow experienced centre back Simon Grand, who has still been playing while being part of the interim management team.

They are expected to be in charge of this Saturday’s game.

With a week and a half break coming up after this match, it is likely that Lancaster City will advance their search for a new permanent management team once the full time whistle is blown in Derbyshire.

Jamie Mellen will not feature for Lancaster after the suspension for the red card he received last weekend comes into effect.

Saturday’s hosts are eighth, two points outside of the NPL Premier Division playoff places.

Matlock Town’s most eye-catching result of the season came early last month, when they beat runaway league leaders Radcliffe 4-0 at home.

Last Saturday, they beat FC United of Manchester 3-2 away from home, holding off late pressure from the hosts to level the score.

Matlock are the third highest scoring team in the division, finding the net 40 times so far this season.

However, they are by far the leakiest team in the top half of the table, conceding on 38 occasions.

Matlock Town v Lancaster City kicks off at 3pm on Saturday (December 2) at The Proctor Cars Stadium.
