Lancaster City Juniors FC recruiting under 13s

Lancaster City Juniors Under 13s

Lancaster City Juniors FC are currently looking for new players to join their club.

Training sessions take place every Wednesday evening from 7-8pm at the University of Cumbria in Boweham, Lancaster on a 3G pitch and the club is recruiting for boys in the under 13s category.

Like with all other Lancaster City Junior teams from under nines onwards, they play in the Lancaster and Morecambe Service to Youth League.

Lancaster City Juniors are not directly affiliated with Lancaster City, only by name and the fact that home games are played on the Giant Axe junior pitches.

However, Chris Raymond, the chairman of the club and the under nines and under 13s manager, told Beyond Radio that “we are integrating” and the relationship between the two “is closer than it’s ever been”.

Speaking about the under-13s team, Chris said: “We do get the odd person who comes (as a result of advertising for places).

"The only thing is now, there’s a lot of teams who are already established and players are already at those, training, We’re looking for people who haven’t been able to get into a team, to come and train with us."

Chris said that it is difficult for the club to facilitate girls’ and younger boys’ training sessions during winter.

“The problem is the winter training – there aren’t any facilities for it around here.

"We’ve put in for grants in order to get winter training but until we get new facilities we can’t really grow.

“We can probably become the biggest junior club around here if we can get the winter training, and that’s what we’re after.

“As soon as the clocks change (to British Summer Time) in March, other sessions will be back up and running.

“We have an under 16 player who is playing at Lancaster City’s under 18s. Our aim is for our players to go basically from the juniors to the first team.”

Chris said that the club are looking to host more events and be involved in more fundraisers for the club itself and for the local area.

“The FA will give us 70 per cent of funds towards a 3G pitch on the fields (near the Giant Axe) so that’s in plans and we’re pushing for that.

“As a club, we’re like a family and we donate money to help people within the club and community.”

Those interested in joining the under 13s team can contact Chris Raymond on 07970 188923.
